Press (Riviera chairman and owner Rodney Longhurst) on how he’s managed to turn Riviera around and he’ll insist it all comes down to the people and engineering an empowered workplace culture.

“There was considerable opportunity to come in three years ago and revitalise the culture that had allowed the brand to grow and succeed for 32 years,” he says. “The goal was always to create magical experiences for our customers. Every day we work on making our boats more user-friendly and luxurious; making the events we host better; making the customer service we provide more helpful. We really listen to our customers and dealers and are actively refining what we do every day.

“Plenty of our competitors talk the talk when it comes to these aspects – but I don’t think many of them are as authentic and passionate about them as we are. I don’t view these things as some sort of selling tool, they’re the ethos of what we do here every day.”

Australia – BoatPoint.com.au – David Lockwood

boatpoint-57ef-review57 Enclosed Flybridge

“The 57 has great cruising potential for East and West coast boaters who like their offshore flybridge craft with a look of robustness.

“Once aboard, you will find a level of refinement and attention to detail not usually afforded by today’s production boat-builders …

“The cockpit is new, with a standard inbuilt transom lounge and our boat had a live-bait bin alongside. This arrangement makes greater use of the boat from a social perspective. You can opt for a fishing transom layout with central live-bait tank if you prefer.

“This is an impressively big flybridge cruiser that suits serious coastal cruising and spending extended time aboard.”

Australia and internationally– Ocean Magazine – David Robinson

“The Riviera 77 Enclosed Flybridge is a stylish, spacious and flexible semi-custom design that is already proving to be in high demand, particularly in the Middle East.

“This yacht marks a design that is powerful and responsive in performance. When she is traveling at full speed, say 27-33 knots, it is on the flybridge where the full power of this yacht can best be seen and felt … the yacht responds quickly and efficiently to changes in direction and speed, whether in open water or the confines of a marina.”

United States – Power & Motoryacht Magazine – George Sass Jr

pmy-fantastic6000 Sport Yacht

“The Riviera 6000 Sport Yacht is an easy boat to like and a very easy boat to cruise … the large sunroof opened up the helm and saloon area so I truly felt like I was outside because, well, I was.

“During our three-day passage from the Gold Coast to Sydney we cruised in a variety of conditions, took naps in absolute comfort, made lunch, and most importantly moved the wine for happy hour from the wine chiller below to the bar in the saloon. We were dry, safe, rested and comfortable yet, because of the hybrid nature of Riviera’s indoor/outdoor design, we still enjoyed being on the water and outside.

“Pulling into Sydney Harbour we were dropped off so the 6000 could be put on a ship to Perth, where her owner eagerly awaited. Wouldn’t it be nice to keep going for the next few months, taking her on her own bottom? Yes it would have, and she would have completed the long coastal voyage as well as any ‘passagemaker’.”

United States – Power & Motoryacht Magazine – Capt Richard Thiel

“I’d estimate that 85 per cent of the side and overhead surfaces on the 6000’s main deck are glass, and you can imagine what this does for the ambience of this space. Along with a new light-wood sole and off-white upholstery, it creates a space that is unusually bright and open in the daytime and doesn’t require a lot of lighting to be that way at night.

The quality of the sound is impressive – the boat was so quiet it never felt like the IPS 950s were turning 2650rpm and the boat was nudging 32 knots.

“In fact, it’s the quality of the whole package that makes the 6000 impressive.”
