Huge roll-up as Riv Kids reel them in
Pittwater, NSW, Australia: There were smiles all round after a day of family fun as over 60 children competed in the second inaugural Riv Kids fishing competition at the Royal Motor Yacht Club.
Part of the RMYC Pittwater Festival, the Riviera fishing competition is organised by Riviera dealer Mark Riley from R Marine Riley, who said the event saw a huge-roll-up of Riviera owners, comprising parents and grandparents, and their angling-eager kids.
“We had kids who were just old enough to hold a hand line right through to teenagers,” said Mark. “We had 12 prizes across three age divisions – biggest, smallest and most fish, as well as strangest fish, in addition to the best sibling team honours.
“The kids lined the RMYC fuel wharf, and also all the available empty marina berths as well.”
Mark said he was genuinely surprised at the variety of fish species caught and released during the fishing competition.
“The kids caught well over 100 fish, including the biggest flathead I’ve ever seen,” he said. “They were even landing tuna off the wharf, along with bream, tailor, yellowtail whiting and squid.”
Mark said a highlight of the event was seeing many happy children, as well as the number of parents and grandparents who expressed their appreciation for a day filled with great memories.
