Riviera stars in international TV commercial
The art director’s instructions were very clear when she asked for a ‘big, sexy boat’ and that is exactly what she got when a Riviera 5800 Sport Yacht berthed at Brisbane’s Dockside Marina for the filming of a commercial for the new Gionee Elife E7 smart phone for the Indian market.
The cast and crew of models, make-up artists, wardrobe assistants, and directors boarded David Amble’s 5800 Sport Yacht at about 7am and transformed his onboard office into the make-up room because will all the natural light coming in from the stairwell it was the perfect location with the master cabin and forward stateroom acting as dressing rooms.
By 8am they were in position for filming and owner David Amble said the most challenging part was keeping the boat on station during the shoot.
“It was quite difficult because there was a gusty wind on the port bow and an ebbing tide but the Cummins Skyhook feature on the boat came into its own in this situation,” David said.
“The director was very impressed with Skyhook and on many occasions when the director asked us to ‘hold right there’, his assistant simply replied ‘Skyhook engaged’.
“Occasionally, I had to take control when ferry wash or stronger than normal wind gusts came through or the director asked for the boat to move in closer during the ‘shoot’ with a side profile. Again, the Cummins Zeus drives and the joystick control made this relatively easy to achieve.
“After dropping the cast and crew back at Dockside Marina, we started heading down the river on our way back to Hope Island on the Gold Coast where we arrived about 4pm completely exhausted but having thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
