Tricks of the trade – use it or lose it!
If there’s one secret to keeping all the systems aboard your luxury motoryacht in ship-shape condition it’s this: check everything!
Riviera Aftermarket & Service manager Michael Swain says it’s a simple case of “use it or lose it”.
“Owners should operate every onboard system at least once a month to ensure everything remains in working order – from ball valves, pumps and winches through to bow and stern thrusters, hydraulic swim platforms and trim tabs,” said Michael.
“Every Riviera also needs to be run on the plane at least once a month to make the most of the owner’s investment in anti-fouling.
“We make sure we explain that to all our owners when they bring their yachts here to Riviera Aftermarket & Service at the home of Riviera at Coomera on Australia’s Gold Coast for anti-fouling … and it’s vitally important.
“Getting your yacht up on the plane regularly will prolong the life of the anti-fouling and ensure your hull and engines run as smoothly as possible.”
The team at Riviera Aftermarket & Service is renowned for the quality of its workmanship for everything from anti-fouling and servicing to repairs and fully customised refits.
“We have many Riviera and Belize owners travel down from Hamilton Island or up from Sydney and even Melbourne for their annual servicing,” says Michael.
“Some are preparing to cruise the Queensland coastline throughout the southern winter, while others return to us each year because they appreciate the exacting eye for detail we apply to everything we do at Riviera.”
The range of optional accessories includes Rupp and Reelax outriggers, tuna tubes, game chairs and teaser reels to the innovative new Seakeeper gyro stabiliser, and Twin Disc EJS – with a demonstration boat berthed at Riviera’s world-class facility at Coomera.
Michael and his team will also be on deck during the 2015 Riviera Festival of Boating to share their wealth of experience, hosting Tips of the Trade and also taking part in the new Ask An Expert seminar – one of 11 new Festival events for 2015.
“All motoryacht owners and aspiring owners are welcome to come along to the one-hour Tips of the Trade seminar, which is always popular at the Festival so I urge them to pre-register early to avoid disappointment,” said Michael.
“We will cover everything from anti-fouling the hull and running gear through to maintaining teak cockpit floors, exterior gelcoat protection and repairs, flybridge clears maintenance and cleaning, as well as removing marks from upholstery, engine room cleaning and maintenance.
“For the Ask An Expert panel, motoryacht owners will have one-on-one access to Riviera’s team of international designers, boat-builders, engineers and master craftsmen to ask any question related to any aspect of the operation of their boat and its various systems.
“Our Aftermarket team is also able to provide troubleshooting tips and handy hints on maintenance and repairs. This is a great opportunity to pick the brains of experts and find solutions to almost any issue.”
